This fall, Alex Prior returns to Madrid to lead the Madrid Symphony Orchestra in an exciting program of Ludwig van Beethoven and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky at the Auditorio Nacional de Música.

Prior shares an established artistic relationship with the Madrid ensemble, having guest-conducted the orchestra across its symphonic series and in major opera productions at the Teatro Real, where the orchestra serves as the resident pit ensemble.

For this concert, Prior collaborates with rising American pianist Curtis Phill Hsu, who appears as part of his official winner’s concert series following his first-prize victory at the 70th Maria Canals International Piano Competition. Hsu takes the stage as soloist in Beethoven’s lyrical Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58. Prior and the orchestra conclude the evening with Tchaikovsky’s monumental Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique”.

The concert takes place on Friday, October 23 at Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música.
